Hungarian Open Middle and Long Distance MTB-O Championships
and the 7th and 8th Race of The Slovakian Cup
EVENT INFORMATION
The championships are organized to award the titles of the Hungarian Middle and Long Distance MTB-O Champions, to offer competitions of international niveau for both Hungarian and foreign bikers and to raise the popularity of the sport.

Location of Event Centre: The sports field of Bkszentkereszt (village)
The Event Centre can be reached via Miskolc – Lillafred – Hollstet – Bkkszentkereszt or via Eger – Felstrkny – Rpshuta – Hollstet – Bkkszentkereszt. There will be signs leading to the sports field in Bkkszentkereszt.

1st day: middle distance
2nd day: long distance

Championship categories: M 14, M and W 18, 21, 40, 50
Open
On the 2nd day (long distance) there will also be M and W 21 B in addition to the categories above.
Check-in:
Competitors must check in between 11 a.m. (11:00) and 1 p.m. (13:00) on 22nd September 2007 at the Event Centre.
Competitors taking part only in the long distance race shall check in between 8 a.m. (8:00) and 9 a.m. (9:00) on 23rd September 2007 at the Event Centre.
Entries on the day of the races:
Entries on the day of the competition will only be accepted as long as there are vacant start times in the start list!
Entries on the day of the competitions: 2000 HUF / person / day
Except M and W 14: 1500 HUF / person / day
and Open: 1000 HUF / person / day
First start:
Middle distance (22nd September): 14:00 (2 p.m.)
Long distance (23rd September): 10:00 (10 a.m.)
Distance between the Event Centre and the Finish: 200 m both days
Distance between the Finish and the Start: 1st day: 350 m, 2nd day: 80 m
Punching system:
The SI electronic punching system will be used. SI cards can be borrowed from the organizer for 200 HUF / card / day. (The charge for a lost card is 6000 HUF.)
In all championship classes, SI cards must be fastened to the bike.
SI card read-out will be carried out at the Competition Centre after finishing.
Map:
A/4 size, M= 1:15.000, E=5m
Field work: aug-sept 2007
Field work and drawing was carried out in compliance with IOF International Specifications for MTB Orienteering Maps 2007.
For competitors of M 21 in the long distance race:
In the championship category M 21 there will be a map exchange in the long distance race. Both maps will be fastened together in the right order and will be handed to the competitor at the start. Competitors shall exchange their maps themselves upon finishing the first loop. Controls will be numbered consecutively (thus the fist control on the second loop will not bear the number 1).
Map exchange is at the last control so M 21 will punch the last control twice, once after each loop. After the first loop, competitors must not cross the finish line. Those crossing the finish line after the first loop will be disqualified.
There will be a refreshment control at the map exchange with pure water. Competitors may have their own refreshments put out at the refreshment contol.
Terrain:
Mountain terrain with many roads and paths which can be ridden excellently even in rainy weather. Expect some steep climbs up the slopes.
Both days the courses include some riding on the village streets. Competitors are to take utmost care of the passers-by and the cars.
Accommodation:
For those who have reserved it, accomodation is organized at the Youth Camp of Bkkszentkereszt in 12-bed brick houses with bathroom and shower located in a separate building.
The camp can be found in Vlgy street. Ask organizers for directions.
Other:
- Parking is at the sports field and on the street leading to the sports field.
- The competition is open for everyone, no club membership is required.
- Wearing helmet is mandatory.
- It is strictly forbidden to ride off the tracks.
- Competitors shall fasten their start bibs on to the front of the bike so that it is clearly visible.
- All competitors are to take utmost care of other competitors and of outsiders. There may be some horse-riders on the terrain!
- All competitors enter the race on their own responsibility.
The following rules shall be observed by all competitors:
1. Slow right down when passing members of the public on foot or on horseback.
2. Avoid damaging the path through aggressive riding such as skidding.
3. When two riders converge:
- riders should normally pass with their left shoulders
- any rider travelling downhill should be given priority
- at an intersection, the rider on the smaller path should give way to any rider on the larger path.
4. Riders should overtake on the left.
5. Slower riders should give way to overtaking riders.
